| There may have never been a Star Wars if not for George Lucas’ lead foot and his diabetes. After college, he applied to be an Air Force officer, but was immediately turned down because of his numerous speeding tickets. Later, when the Army drafted him for military service in Vietnam, medical tests revealed that he had diabetes and he was exempted from service. He then went on to enroll as a graduate student in film production and the rest is history.  | |
