NASA’s Great Observatories program was comprised of four powerful orbital space telescopes: The Hubble Space Telescope, The Compton Gamma Ray Observatory, The Chandra X-ray Observatory, and The Spitzer Space Telescope. Except for the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory, which was de-orbited in 2000 after a serious gyroscope failure, all remain in operation today.
