Folksonomy (a.k.a. Collaborative Tagging, Social Bookmarking, Social Classification and Social Tagging) refers to the use of a user-defined taxonomy system (digital content tags) to categorize and/or annotate websites, pictures, etc. for easy organization and location by users.

Some examples of websites that “employ” Folksonomy are: Delicious, Flickr, Technorati, etc.
