A Container is a data structure that can contain one or more different types of data. Some examples of Containers are:

  • HTML documents that are enclosed by the beginning and ending tags (the whole HTML document, but also individual parts of the greater whole as well)
  • Software (a parent program or component) that “holds” and executes commands, software routines, applets, frames, windows, etc.
  • Virtualization architecture that allows applications, services, and operating systems to run/function in their own isolated partitions
