AAA Servers (short for Authentication, Authorization, Accounting Server) are network servers that are used for access control. AAA Servers perform the three following tasks: - Authentication: Identifying users by their usernames and passwords
- Authorization: Implementing the policies that determine which resources and/or services valid users may have access to
- Accounting: Recording the amount of time logged into the system and the data resources used for analysis and/or billing purposes
