Zeroconf

A Zeroconf (short for ZeroConfiguration Network) is a type of network (computers, printers, and other network devices) that can be set up using Ethernet cables and does not require manual configuration (or configuration servers) to achieve network functionality.

Automatic functions of a Zeroconf include: the allocation of IP addresses, translation between domain names and IP addresses, locating services (like printing, for example) without employing a directory service, etc.
