The hottest rainfall ever recorded fell on Needles, California on August 13, 2012 during a heatwave. The air temperature was 118°F (47.8°C) and the rain temperature was measured at 115°F (46.1°C). Due to the high air temperature and the very low ambient humidity (only 11 percent), the hot rain evaporated almost instantly.
