| The term Shadow IT refers to “local applications/software”, infrastructure/hardware, web-based services, cloud applications, and/or other solutions that are created and applied within a company or organization, or are managed/utilized by employees in order to accomplish their tasks and projects, all without the proper authorization from, or knowledge about said activity by the people in charge. Shadow IT can be a problem because it may not conform to an organization’s requirements for reliability, security, documentation, control, etc. but can also serve as a source of potential prototypes for “future” IT solutions. | |
